During the regular season the teams split their two meetings with the Dukes giving the Thundering Herd their first and only loss in conference play to even the season series after losing the first game.
In the win for the Thundering Herd, they won 77-70 after falling behind 19-8 in the first period. Four players finished in double-figures scoring led by Aislynn Hayes (21 points and six rebounds) and Breanna Campbell (19 points and seven assists) to lead the comeback win.
Then, in the second game the Dukes used a 47-30 run in the second and third periods to build a lead and close out a 72-63 win. They also had four players score in double-figures in the win led by Kseniia Kozlova and Hevynne Bristow with 12 points each. Balanced scoring led each team to a win in the regular season, which could be the ticket again here today in the conference championship game.
